CITY GARDEN - RANELAGH, DUBLIN 6
Moyne Road, Ranelagh, Dublin 6
Brief -
To create a usable space for a family in the city. A contemporary style low maintenance garden, which would be good for entertaining. The clients wanted a garden that was different and had it’s own identity. They were concerned about plants and maintenance so the planting should be kept controlled and to a minimum. They really wanted to make the most out of their small city garden.
Design –
My goal was to maximise the space so the garden would function well for the family and their needs. The garden would be a split-level design and the lower area would be dug out to allow breathing space from the house. The balance had to be right between the spaces and a seating area would be placed in the North side of the garden to catch the sun later in the day. Hardwood seating would allow the garden to function well without having to use furniture that would take up space. An area for cooking would be created that would also add interest to the design, and a water feature would be good for sound and also a great visual effect from the house. The style of the garden would be contemporary and the colour scheme would compliment the interior design.
