Small City Garden - Sandycove
Background -This city garden was tight for space and measured 4.5m x 4.5m. It was surrounded by tall concrete walls and had one exit to a side street. It was a bright space and was on full view from the house through large glass panels.
Brief - A contemporary feel with a minimalist look. A water feature pond for sound and visual effects. Bamboo planting to create a green screen and they liked also liked the canes as a feature.
Garden Design - The main challenge here was create a spacious feel. In order to do this every element had to be to the correct scale and proportion. A garden design was needed that would deliver a usable space that was visually appealing all year round. A unique water feature, not seen before, would be created to make this small garden have it's own identity. Built in seating with enough space to add a dining table when required.
The colour palette was of warm but bright tones including the Italian travertine paving tiles on the floor. The blue added a splash of colour and gave energy to the garden.
The garden contributes so well to the interior of their quite exquisite home.
